THE STORY
After admiring a piece I had made for another client, Jane approached me to help her with two single stone pendants that she once enjoyed wearing but, over time, she felt they became invisible on her and just disappeared when she wore them. At our first meeting Jane explained how she adored the peridot diamond top and lemon citrine stones of the pendants and was keen to transform them into a single necklace that she really would want to wear.
Our consultation gave me a good understanding of Jane’s personality, her busy event-filled lifestyle and what she likes. Her love of colour and gardening in particular. With my initial designs our first thought was to deconstruct the existing pendants into one and to see what might work with it. To reflect Jane, her love of colour and brief to create more of a statement piece and as a contrast to the yellow palette I suggested violet hues and so added amethyst to the mix which made the other colours pop. Jane was thrilled with this and so so we developed this into the final piece.
Key to the success of this brief and indeed to any commissioning work, is to get to know your client, to connect and understand them, so the final piece truly reflects them, in this case, Jane and delivers against her brief. Jane was delighted with the finished pendant, which transformed her old pendants she no longer wore into something she would now wear.
